Kodak V1273 V1073 touch screen compacts

CES 2008: The V1273 and V1073 are the latest ultra compacts from Kodak. Both can record video at 720p30 HD resolution. They also feature optically stabilized lenses and the ability to output their stills in both 720p and 1080i HD formats.

Kodak has used CES 2008 to launch a phalanx of compact cameras. This include compacts, ultra compacts and 5X zoom compacts, with the common ability to output their stills in both 720p and 1080i HD formats. Several of the cameras are also able to record 720p30 HD video. (This may not be as fast as 720p60 or as high res as 1080i, but its still a big jump from the VGA that is standard issue on most compacts).

The V1273 is a 12MP compact camera with a 3X optical zoom. It features a 3 inch (7.6 cm), touch screen to provide easier easy camera setup and control. The V1073 IS is a 10MP version of the same camera. Both are capable of recording MPEG-4 compressed 720p30 High Definition video (1280 x 720 @ 30fps) and feature optical image stabilization to help ensure sharp images and steady video.

Both display still images at 720p or 1080i via the separately available Easyshare HDTV dock. The pair also have full-resolution ISO 3200 mode. They also share 32MB of internal memory for when you forget to take a memory card with you and share a 37-111mm (35mm equivalent) lens.

In common with the latest additions to its V and Z ranges, the company says the latest models are designed to fit with Kodaks "you press the button, we do the rest," ethos.
