Nikon Coolpix 5700 Nikon Coolpix 5700 Review, August 2002, Phil Askey

Nikon Coolpix 5700 Preview based on a production Nikon Coolpix 5700, Firmware v1.00 The new eight times zoom, five megapixel Coolpix 5700 was announced on May 29th, 2002 as part of a trio of new Coolpix digital cameras from Nikon. The 5700 marks the next logical progression from the Coolpix 5000 and adds a big eight times optical zoom lens. This instantly raises the 5700 to the top of the prosumer digital camera pile, the nearest competition coming from Minoltas DiMAGE 7i (seven times optical zoom, five megapixel) and Sonys DSC-F707 (five times optical zoom, five megapixel). Evolution As you can see from the shot above the 5700 is instantly recognizable as being based on the 5000 backend. Indeed there is much about the 5700 which is similar to the 5000, however there are some other important differences which are detailed below.

Conclusion / Recommendation / Ratings are basedon the opinion of the author.Images which can be viewedat a larger size have a small magnifying glass icon in the bottomright corner of the image, clicking on the image will display alarger (normally 960 x 720 or smaller if cropped) image in a newwindow. To navigate the review simplyuse the next / previous page buttons, to jump to a particular sectioneither pick the section from the drop down or select it from thenavigation bar at the top.DPReview calibrate theirmonitors using Color Vision OptiCal at the (fairly well accepted)PC normal gamma 2.2, this means that on our monitors we can makeout the difference between all of the (computer generated) grayscaleblocks below. We recommend to make the most of this review you shouldbe able to see the difference (at least) between X,Y and Z and ideallyA,B and C.
